Who am I

Messing with computers since I was a little kid, formal study in Software Engineering, switched to infosec because it's more fun. Security Officer by trade. Volunteer for the NLLGG. Love sharing my passion for privacy, and can be found at events regularly. If not as speaker, as an attendee.

As a teen I got interested into human-like AI and HRI, but in my early twenties got a bit bored with that. Since then I found my interest in privacy and from there also into cybersecurity. A field I spend my energy on the past few years.

In the summer of 2021, I started working on my little project to rid big tech from my life, and switch to privacy-friendly alternatives. But with the catch that while setup might cost effort, usability afterwards had to be as easy as the old big tech solutions. After 3 years I removed my last big tech account. But it never truly ends, as the world is always changing. And so I keep up to date with current happenings and update what I use and recommend accordingly.

This website is originally made to have a place to share the slides from my presentations. As I strongly dislike web programming, it's quickly made in Wordpress in a free afternoon on a managed Wordpress service I got cheaply from work. Please don't take it too deep, I know it's full of ugly stuff code-wise ;) . I'm also dyslexic as what, so excuse my spelling.

Nothing in life is free. Even the F in FOSS is "free as in freedom", not "no cost". Because I believe paying with data isn't the solution and I personally don't want to see ads even when context-based, paying with money is the last option. Sadly, Big Tech has normalised "free" services at the cost of data making people hesitant to spend money. It's time to normalise other methods of payment again, and that can only be done when people see others do it.

This list only contains things I donate to on a recurring basis, or when the option isn't there pledged for at least one year to. Things that received a one time donation are not listed.

At the same time, this is a nice location to shine some extra light at some great organisations, software, etc. After all, I wouldn't pay money if I didn't think they do a good job.
