  • TPM isn’t the problem
Ever since Microsoft announced the TPM 2.0 requirement for Windows 11, I’ve seen people flip out over it for various reasons. However, based on the reasons given, there seems to be mainly a lot of misconceptions about it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely not a fan of Windows 11. But from everything that is wrong with it, the TPM 2.0 requirement isn’t one of the issues. So I figured, let’s get into that. And … Read more
  • AI isn’t bad, the current usage is
Now, this post is going to require some nuance on a currently rather touchy subject. But let’s start with saying I’m not gonna tell you how great ChatGPT, CoPilot, and all those other big AI systems you see everywhere are. If you’re looking for a reason why it’s actually not so bad, this is not it. But at the same time, if you just want to read how bad and evil AI is, this is … Read more
  • Interoperability, we need to be cautious about it
This take will probably create some disagreements, I am well aware. And don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan op interoperability when done well. In an ideal world all our software would be interoperable and we all have the freedom to choose our clients and providers without consequence. But sadly we don’t live in a perfect world. And while it’s good to strive to get there, it has to be done correctly or we’ll … Read more
  • Some thoughts on Proton
Every now and then, something happens that I can hardly talk about in the 500 characters I have on Mastodon making it relatively hard to dive deep into it. Well that’s an issue no more. After a bit of work I’ve now got a page on my site I can post about things as extensively as I want. Woohoo. So why now? Well, every now and then I get some people asking me about my … Read more

I tend to be a person who likes nuances. And every now and then, I wanna say stuff that I can’t put into the 500 characters I have on Mastodon. That’s an issue no more! Now I have this page to write long pieces on!

I try to keep stuff somewhat approachable, so that the not-die-hard techies can (hopefully) understand it too. That doesn’t say there won’t be anything interesting for the techies here, if only for the fact that my personal opinions on things can be found here as well as general info, but expect some simplifications and such.

Don’t expect a regular schedule. I just made this page to post stuff whenever I have something long to post about.

Like everything I post online under my (user)name, my posts here are based strictly on personal opinions and unrelated to any employer, organisation, or other secondary party. For more background on who I am, you can check the rest of this site.

For those who care: everything is written by me and cover images are made by me from resources with either open licences or things like fair use, edited in Krita. I don’t use AI to create these blogs.

I’m dyslexic. I do my best to prevent them, but please be understanding of my typing errors.
